The Pen of Adam and Eve   

     The fig tree is the first tree mentioned by name in the bible.  It's leaves were used by Adam and Eve to cover their bodies.  Some believe that the Fig tree and not the apple tree was the tree of knowledge that Adam and Eve ate from.  It is a Fig tree that Michelangelo painted on the Sistine chapel ceiling.

     "And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves girdles."  (Genesis 3:7)

     The fig tree also represents safety and security in the bible.

     "During Solomon's lifetime Judah and Israel, from Dan to Beersheba, lived in safety, everyone under their own vine and under their own fig tree."  (1 Kings 4:25)

     The tree is short, growing only ten feet tall with a large umbrella of leaves.  The fruit is easily missed as it blends in with the leaves.  Our wood comes from trees harvested in Israel.
