The Pen of Peace 

     The olive tree is the most well recognized tree from Israel. It is freely exported and has a very pretty wood.  Most come from Bethlehem, but we offer three varieties: Bethlehem, Jerusalem, and Nazareth.  The tree is legally protected, but the prunings are collected and dried in nearby caves before being sold.  The wood is best known for helping Noah recognize when the flood waters had receded.

     "He waited seven more days and again sent the dove from the ark,  When the dove returned to him in the evening there in its beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf!  Then Noah knew that the water had receded from the Earth."  (Genesis 8:10-11)

     The tree is an important agricultural product in the Mediterranean, producing olive oil used in cooking and used in church services for annointing.  The tree itself does not grow large and as it ages, the center decays, leaving a hollow trunk.  Our pen wood comes directly from Israel.
